Breakthrough Prayer

"They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus." - Acts 1:14

Breakthrough Scripture: "…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." – 2 Chronicles 7:14

Just Imagine . . .
... All RUMC members
... all Christians
…in one accord
…for the same thing
Praying until something happens, just like the disciples prayed in that upper room before Pentecost!

We are living in exciting times in Earth’s history! And God’s work is going forward in ways never before thought imaginable. Yet we face many challenges as a church. We also face many challenges personally. Many doors will never be opened to the gospel except through the power of the Holy Spirit in answer to prayer.

Have you ever wondered how the early believers in the book of Acts became united in one accord? Have you ever wondered what led to such miracles and amazing progress, allowing them to take the gospel to the whole world in such a short amount of time? As we read the stories again, it is clear that the answer is prayer … not just individual prayer, but united prayer!

Time after time we find that the early believers put away wrongs and differences between themselves and prayed and called on the Lord together! They were united in prayer from the upper room to times of persecution, to times of business, to times of disagreements or when facing impossible difficulties, to praying for the spread of the gospel. As a result, God worked marvelously. The Holy Spirit was continuously poured out, the Word of God was preached powerfully, the gospel of Jesus went forward effectively, and the church grew dramatically!

We need the same movement again, today!

Job 42:10 tells us, “And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends.”

As we learn to pray more for one other, as well as for the mission of our church, we can expect that God will work in ways we never imagined possible! We will be praying for restored marriages, lost friends and family brought back to the Lord, healing, and increased effectiveness of evangelistic endeavors as people have committed to pray together for the church and for each other. It is clear, the more we pray together, the more God’s Spirit is poured out.

Join us and encourage your friends and loved ones to join as well. Let’s all be part of a mighty church-wide prayer movement, breakthrough prayer, as we prepare for the glorious return of Jesus.

Breakthrough Prayer: Gracious God, we pray for the Holy Spirit to breakthrough and renew Richland Church, unleashing a fearless, Christ-centered and Spirit-led congregation! Empower our pastor, leaders, and everyone who walks through our doors with the contagious, miraculous, saving message of Christ Jesus. Boldly use each of us, without limits, to reach new people and to heal our broken world. Create in us a joyful heart for all that God is doing in and through us to change lives and transform the world. We pray in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
