"Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!" The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD." - Lamentations 3:21-26

Lamentations lives up to its name. It was written right after the destruction of Jerusalem by a guy who watched it happen. And yet, somehow, the author still manages to say God's faithfulness is great? Didn't He just allow the capital city of His chosen people to get destroyed? And still the author says God is loving, good and faithful?

But here's the thing, God is faithful. God is loving. Even when everything falls apart, God is still there. It's just that we have a skewed perspective on what his faithfulness is.

Maybe it doesn't look like a full bank account, or being promoted. Maybe God's faithfulness has more to do with Him never going back on his when he said "Be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20) and "Now you are my friends." (John 15:15)

So how do you see God's faithfulness in your life? What do you expect from a faithful God? What can you do this week to be more faithful to God?

Faithful God, patient Lord, I am so impatient every day. Help me to slow down and enjoy the beauty of all that is around me. Help me to listen for Your voice. Help me to see You in my life and the life of others. Amen.
