By His Wounds

"Why is my pain unceasing, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed?" – Jeremiah 15:18
"For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal," declares the LORD, "because they have called you an outcast: ‘It is Zion, for whom no one cares!’" – Jeremiah 30:17
"Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security." - Jeremiah 33:6

All of us have sustained wounds; all of us have inflicted wounds. Life consists in large measure of a journey through grief and loss. Wounded, we cry out to God. We seek a balm to heal our wounds. We long for release from the discouragement that takes our energy and blinds us to all that is good and true in our lives. Just as Jeremiah yearned for wholeness and healing, so too do we, the Lord’s chosen ones.

At a moment of deep despair, the Lord spoke through the prophet Jeremiah to God’s people: “I will restore health to you and your wounds I will heal.” If God could take care of the wounds of his faithless people, Israel, then there is great hope and promise for you and for me.

Jesus knows our pain. Christ feels our wounds. Our Lord and Savior can provide for us the balm that we need. He endured wounds greater than we could ever imagine. He took on our pain as he walked to the cross, and eventually allowed Himself to be nailed to it.

Do you believe that by His stripes you can be healed? Do you understand that, just as God provided health and healing to Israel, He will also heal your wounds, as well? He promised that He would heal his people and let them enjoy abundant peace and security. Are you ready to claim that peace and security? I am.

By Jesus' blood, your sins are washed away. By His wounds you are healed! Claim this victory my brothers and sisters! He died for you!

Prayer:
Lord God, You promise that you will bring health and healing to Your people. Help me to claim this precious gift today. Help me to know that by Your stripes, I am healed! Amen.
