Most Worthy of Praise

"Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods." - 1 Chronicles 16:25

Very simply put, we praise God because He is worthy of our praise. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. He is our Creator, Provider, Healer, Redeemer, Judge, Defender and so much more!

Another foundational reason to praise God is obedience. The Bible says God is a "jealous" God who demands and desires our praise. "You shall have no other gods before Me," says Deuteronomy 6:7. And David reminds us, "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." (Psalm 150:6)

As we praise God, we discover amazing benefits for our lives. That's because human beings were created by God to praise Him. Matthew 21:16, tells us, "They asked Jesus, 'Do you hear what these children are saying?' 'Yes,' Jesus replied. 'Haven’t you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, "You have taught children and infants to give you praise."'

Due to man's original sin, however, this relationship of praise was disrupted. Praising God helps restore us to that right relationship, for God actually dwells in the praises of His people. As we draw near to the Father in praise, He draws near to us. (James 4:8)

Praise is our ultimate destiny. When the Lord returns again to earth, all creation -- including prideful mankind -- will recognize His glory and will praise Him.

Prayer:
I am full of pride, Lord God. Help me to strip away the sin from my life, that I might be brought back into right relationship with You, and desire to praise You at all times and in all ways. Amen.
