Seek His Light

"One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will set me high on a rock. Now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me! 'Come,' my heart says, 'seek his face!' Your face, Lord, do I seek." - Psalm 27:4-8

Sometimes it feels like the follower’s journey has no end. We follow Christ through one situation at at time, one choice, one kindness, one light-shedding moment at a time, only to come face to face with another situation, and another decision, and another injustice, and another darkness...and another...and another.

But this is what we are seeking, in every step along the way: not just to follow-the-leader behind Jesus, not to endlessly chase after the light, but to abide with Him. To find our home in Him and in the light of His love.

When we follow Him, bringing His light into the darkness, He becomes real in our lives and our world. For our whole lifetime long, we follow; speaking His light, singing His light, acting out His light. And at the end of this journey – for all the days of life, and ever after – He will welcome us to rest from the follower’s journey, and dwell with Him.

Thank you, God, for leading me on this journey of light. Continue to guide me all the way home to You. Amen"
