Walking in the Light of God

"Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Pray...Ask God to give you the right words so you can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for all. Speak this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that you will keep on speaking boldly for him, as you should... Peace be with you, dear brothers and sisters, and may God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you love with faithfulness. May God’s grace be eternally upon all who love our Lord Jesus Christ." - Ephesians 6:18-20, 23-24

Take a prayer walk. Ask God ahead of time which neighborhood or area needs your prayer. It might be the fancy shopping section, an apartment complex near your church or one of your neighborhoods. If it is a tough neighborhood, you might want to go with more than two of you. Pray for everyone who lives there. Pray for each of the houses and schools, businesses and families. One of you may pray for the right side of the road, while the other prays for the left. Walk quietly together and speak your prayer to God. You might ask Jesus to walk through the neighborhood with you. Pray for God's presence, peace and protection over the area you pray over. Pray that he neighborhood will be infused with Christ's love and presence.

If people come out and talk with you, let them know that you are prayer walking and praying over the houses in their neighborhood. Let them know who you are and what church you belong to. Ask if there is anything specific that you could lift up for them in prayer. Some may say no, while others may covet the prayers.

When you are done, got to a coffee shop and talk through your time of walking and prayer.

Prayer:
We are walking in the light of God, we are walking in the light of God. We are walking in the light of God, we are walking in the light of God. We are walking, we are walking, oooh, we are walking in the light of God. We are walking, we are walking, oooh, we are walking in the light of God. - "Siyahamba," South African hymn, 20th century
